Different tests may then be conducted to realize specific allergen. It includes a skin prick test. In this test skin usually, the arm is exposed to an allergen in a form of a drop. Then skin pricking takes place and allergist observes the reaction. If a mosquito bite like bump appears on the pricked skin, the person is most prominently allergic to the dropped substance.

In the case of food allergies, a diet without allergens for a specific time and reintroduce after that time period, if the patient is reactive after reintroduction of that particular eliminated food may be the cause of allergy.

If other tests are inconclusive, a blood test may be done for specific antigen produced by the body.

Depending on the exams and questions, the allergist can then provide treatments as vaccines or desensitization.
